Schnitzer Grain Mill Country - Traditional Grinding Without Electricity

The Country grain mill is the ideal choice for those who value traditional, electricity-free grain processing. With its massive grinding stones made of hand-cast Naxos basalt and a sturdy solid beechwood base, this mill offers everything you need to produce flour for fresh bread.

Two Versions of the Country Grain Mill

The Country grain mill is available in two different versions, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs:

  • Version 1: Stainless Steel Hopper
This version comes with a robust stainless steel hopper, which is not only durable but also easy to clean. The stainless steel hopper gives the mill a modern look and is particularly resistant to moisture and wear.

  • Version 2: Wooden Hopper
The second version of the Country grain mill features a traditional wooden hopper, adding a classic, rustic charm to the device. The wood is carefully crafted and perfectly complements the solid beechwood base, making the mill a stylish centerpiece in any kitchen.

Advantages of the Country Grain Mill

  • Massive Naxos Basalt Grinding Stones: The hand-cast Naxos basalt stones ensure consistent and efficient processing of grains. These high-quality grinding stones are extremely durable and can grind grain into fine flour or coarse grits, depending on your needs.
  • Sturdy Solid Beechwood Base: The robust solid beechwood base ensures stability during the grinding process. The mill is securely fastened with two clamps, keeping it firmly in place while you grind.
  • Suitable for Corn: A special highlight of the Country grain mill is its suitability for grinding corn. Thanks to the robust grinding stones, corn can be ground in stages, making this mill particularly versatile.

How to Use the Country Grain Mill Properly

Secure the mill firmly with the included clamps on a stable work surface. Place the desired grain (or corn) into the hopper and start turning the crank. The hand-cast Naxos basalt grinding stones crush the grain evenly, allowing you to produce fine flour or coarse grits. The mill operates entirely without electricity, making it a sustainable choice for anyone who wants to process their own food independently of the power grid.

Special Features

  • Two Hopper Options: Choose between a stainless steel hopper for durability and easy cleaning or a wooden hopper for a traditional, rustic design.
  • Naxos Basalt Grinding Stones: Guarantee consistent and efficient grinding performance.
  • Sturdy Solid Beechwood Base: Provides a secure stand and long-lasting durability.
  • Suitable for Corn: Allows for staged grinding of corn, enhancing the mill's versatility.

Care Instructions

To maximize the lifespan of your Country grain mill, clean the hopper and grinding stones regularly after use. Be sure to store the mill in a dry place to protect the wood and grinding stones. For replacement parts or maintenance inquiries, feel free to contact us via the contact form.

Thank you!

Thank you for stocking the natural stone. I've been looking everywhere for the natural stone. It's the only stipulation I had when looking for a grain mill! It's lovely. I can sift out my larger bran if I want an even thinner flour (which comes in handy for sausage gravy!!!). I use the larger bran for cookies and it goes well as crackers! This produces a lovely whole grain. I'm a tiny woman, so it was hard at first.. but my husband broke it in for me and it rolls smoothly!

Thank you so much, Christine, for your wonderful 5-star review and the beautiful photos! We are very happy to hear that you’re enjoying the Schnitzer COUNTRY manual grain mill with natural stone. Many customers specifically look for a grain mill with real natural stone to produce high-quality, aromatic whole grain flour, so we’re delighted that you found exactly what you were searching for.

It’s great to hear that you can create both fine flour and larger bran for cookies or crackers. This versatility is one of the key advantages of a hand-operated grain mill, and your experience highlights that perfectly. Your note about the handle running more smoothly after a short break-in period is also very helpful for other interested buyers.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We’re thrilled that the COUNTRY mill is the perfect fit for you!

Fantastic mill

The mill is very handsome. Well crafted and sturdy. People who come into my kitchen marvel at its beautiful workmanship. We’ve been grinding Flint corn in it and it’s fantastic. My wish would be a manual in English. That would talk more about the grinding settings. That would be very helpful. Otherwise it’s a fantastic addition to our kitchen.

Thank you very much for your wonderful review and the beautiful photo of your Schnitzer Grain Mill COUNTRY! We are delighted that you are so pleased with the high-quality craftsmanship and performance, and that the mill has become a highlight in your kitchen.

Thank you also for your valuable feedback regarding the manual. An English manual should generally be included with the Schnitzer Grain Mill COUNTRY – it might still be placed at the bottom of the packaging. If you cannot find it, we would be happy to send you a detailed English manual separately.

If you have any questions about adjusting the grinding settings or any other topics related to the product, please feel free to contact us or the manufacturer directly – we are always happy to assist you.

We wish you continued enjoyment in grinding and cooking!

Beautiful and functional

I am so happy with my new grain mill, I got the one with the wooden funnel and it’s both durable and beautiful. I already have an electric grain mill, but wanted a manual stone mill for a few reasons. One we have frequent lengthy power outages in the mountains where we live, and I want to be able to mill and bake no matter what. Two, my electric mill grinds so well I can’t even sift any bran out which is great most of the time but I sometimes want to extract bran or create a more gritty stone ground flour for everything from crackers to pastries. Three, sometimes I want to grind smaller amounts of flour without having to clean my electric mill, since regularly using the country mill it doesn’t require cleaning. I’m really enjoying the manual mill for its textured and very fine flour. I’m surprised at how fine the grind can be it is in fact finer than some other electric mills (not mine, but I bought it bc it can make pastry fine flour) and the Country mill does grind super fine flour perfect for pastry with or without extracting the bran. This is all around a fantastic and attractive mill. It is also fairly easy to manually mill, the finer settings take more physical effort but is definitely doable and the flour production is enough to make it a practical appliance for grinding enough flour to bake a loaf or two in one go. I highly recommend!

Great stone mill

I love this stone mill. It is great quality, I think it will last forever. It is easy to use and clean. The flour is fine (except for the bran and germ part). I am very happy with it. It is a good exercise. I can mill around 300g in 5 minutes (double it if passing twice to get a finer texture). I normally start with a more coarse setting (3 or 4) and then go to the finest possible (0). Recommend.
