I ordered this late in the season for our few trees so will use it next year. On the few plumbs I had remaining...the space between the blade and the hole could be 1/8 to 1/4 inch larger for some of our home grown large California plums. However, next year, the bulk of the regular sized plum ought to roll through fairly well. If you are reading this, you know that plum stones are difficult to get out by hand. This is a hardy blade and it reasonably extracts the pit without tearing too much of the flesh away, though indeed, some. This Stoner is much better than struggling by hand and I'm thankful that Loewen offers such a tool. I will be able to dehydrate nearly the whole crop next year, now that I have this Stoner.

Needs improvement

The plum pitter is better than doing it by hand but it needs a lot of improvement. The whole is a little too big for a regular size damson plum and a lot of them slipped through the hole. Also, the metal plunger came loose after hitting just a few damsons. It was very frustrating until finally I glued it. It has not come out since.

In your case, the device must be exchanged (we know the problem with the plunger that is not properly fixed). The exchange is free of charge. If you don't like the device, you have a 30-day right of withdrawal and can send the device back. In your case (because the device is defective), the return shipment is free of charge.

With this pitter, it is important to know that you can only pit normal-sized plums (length approx. 3 – 4 cm / 1.2” – 1.6”). The plums must not be too big, but also not too small.

The scoop that changed my life!

I make a cookie recipe that has a lot of butter. The batter is kept in the refrigerator for 2 days before baking. I take it out to bring it to room temperature the night before. Due to the heavy butter volume the dough is very, very soft. Using my traditional scoop results in using my hands to release the dough onto the sheet pan. A very slow and messy process. With this non-stick scoop the dough falls right out! A miracle!

These are the best! I have had three in my lifetime, only replacing them when lost or lent to somebody who did not return!. They are strong and convenient, grating hard cheese like Parmesan easily, and quickly cutting cucumber, squash or other veggies. Wonderful too, way better than a box grater and not as bulky or heavy as a blender
