Great gadget

I never knew I needed this, but now I wonder how I lived without it. It removes stones from prune plums rapidly and easily, simplifying the job of making a delicious Bavarian plum cake and plum compote for Kaiserschmarrn—among other wonderful things.

Great for stoning plums

I used this to stone a huge quantity of plums for dehydrating. So much more efficient than without it! My only criticism is that some of the largest plums barely fit.

Hard work on Satsuma plums!

This may be an issue with the way we grow our plums (water-limited, and no thinning) to develop rich intense flavours for bottling, but this means that the pitter has trouble getting through the skin and flesh. Looking forward to trying it on our Santa Rosas (thinner skins) and cherries next season!

We appreciate your insight regarding the use with Satsuma plums. Our Westmark 'Steinex-Combi' stoner is designed to work well with regular plums with normal skin thickness and generally functions reliably. It is important that the fruits are not too large to fit properly into the device.

De-stoning made easy

I have only tested Westmark Cherry & Plum Stoner on a few plums and cherry's as season has come to the end just when it arrived, but was very impressed in this little gadget
. The ability it has to remove stone cleanly from plums and cherry's will make jam making so easy in future, makes me look forward to harvesting from my backyard trees next season not dread.

The scoop that changed my life!

I make a cookie recipe that has a lot of butter. The batter is kept in the refrigerator for 2 days before baking. I take it out to bring it to room temperature the night before. Due to the heavy butter volume the dough is very, very soft. Using my traditional scoop results in using my hands to release the dough onto the sheet pan. A very slow and messy process. With this non-stick scoop the dough falls right out! A miracle!

These are the best! I have had three in my lifetime, only replacing them when lost or lent to somebody who did not return!. They are strong and convenient, grating hard cheese like Parmesan easily, and quickly cutting cucumber, squash or other veggies.
